I will continue the explaination of the three slokas a little later as one of my friendsvinod asked for a translation of very good song written by S.S.Sastry. Dont get confused with the numerical methods book guy. This is written by sirivennala seetharaama sastry...alias gun maama. The lyrics are in bold. For the sake of "telugu" people who dont know how to read telugu, English version is also there...

The gist: These four lines describe the essence of the Omkaara also called the pranava naadam. In the mind of the Brahma, the essence of vedas i.e the Omkaara has emerged. That OMkaara is the life of all the praana naadis (Supposedly we have 72000 naadis . Three of them are main...the ida, pingala and sushumna). Brahma is seeing the image of the worlds drama ( English translations sucks...). That OMkaara is the scintillating vibrations in the heart cause by Brahma's veena ( may saraswati's veena). Anyway I am not good at translating into English. Words in dictionary are not enough to translate the poetic beauty here. We have to feel it . Feet it guys...

కొత్త బిచ్చగాడు పొద్దు ఎరుగడు అని సామెత. Translation in English ..." New begger doesn't have time sense". Actually I dont know better way of translating this. By the way I am from the Tirupati, just near the foot hills of Lord Venkateswara. Most of the writing from now on will be a mix of telugu and English. I love telugu although it is not supposedly my mother tongue. My mother tongue is supposedly tamizh (yeah that the right way of writing tamil...that zh is the beauty for tamizh language). It so happens that my grand parents have changed their tongue...so it became telugu..I love both the languages..for that matter kannada also...its really poetic...not because the kannada girls are cute ...ofcourse that might be true..I am talking in terms of linguistic beauty.

మన భాషయే మకరంద బిందు బృందశ్చందన తుందిల మగు మాతృభాషయే ...Sorry I cannot translate this...I dont want to kill the poetic beauty of the line by translating. Some Bhavas cannot be translated...they should stay in the original language.

We cannot forget some events that happen in our life....like the recent "insult" that I got...I was on my way to Chennai to attend to my friends marriage. I arranged my luggage and started looking around...suddenly one gentleman came and sat opposite to me. He had full luggage..He was trying to adjust the luggage all around...One of his relative arranged the luggage below my seat and said "Hi UNCLE aap ko kuch problem nahi hain na?" I just wanted to shout...the problem is with UNCLE not the luggage..Anyway I thought of forgiving him...but then another person entered the field...it happens to be the relative's wife...A married man calls a unmarried, young,dynamic gentleman ( if you didnt get it ...its me) an UNCLE....What more can insult can happen??? Anyways...I have my part in it...The probable reason is I maintain a proportionality of 3 between my age and weight..I am 81 now...


Speaking about good things I remember three slokas from a story told by my atta ( father's sister) when I was in eighth class...They registered in my mind forever..I shall explain the meaning in the next post...still forth coming...thyagaraja vaibhavam...an translation of Pravachanam by samavedam shanmukha sharma and chaganti koteswara rao garlu...

The two sides of the coin

Hari Om,

As my profile says...I am Siva , a Ph.D student in the Dept of E.C.E, Indian Institute of Science..The first thought that came to my mind when I decided to blog is..why am I blogging?? Quick answer is time pass. The better answer to understand about myself, the great culture of my karma bhoomi Bharata. Oh my god!!! I already got into the mood of writing good things. Does it mean I am a very good person..may be..but i dont lie....the answer is NO..Everybody has the tendency to project only one side of the coin. The other side is not that rosy..I believe in too things Bhakti and rakti...If I write about rakti..then definitely people will get Virakti...Out of the navarasas I like karuna rasa, Haasya rasa,Sringara rasa ...wait ...3/9 ...let me stop here...Most part of my blogs will be on music, mind and culture...I will get the clarity of thoughts when I let others know about it...learn by teaching...its a great principle...enough for today...Let me conclude with a wonderful prayer to give the feel of my positive side...
